I

It’s no secret that love story sessions bring me a lot of joy, but this one in particular was extremely exciting for me because my brother, Jeff, proposed to his girlfriend, Cassandra, and she is my soon-to-be sister-in-law! I am so excited for these two to be getting married and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for them.

If you know my brother, you know he loves his coffee. But not just any coffee, black coffee. Always and everywhere, it’s always plain black coffee! So it seemed only fitting that we went to Edward’s Dessert Kitchen in Minneapolis to grab some coffee and sweets to start off our session. I am now obsessed with this little shop as a location for photo sessions, their aesthetic is amazing and the neon sign is my new favorite background. I mean come on, can it get any cuter than this??

Cassandra was pretty open with the planning of their session, but we wanted a variety of shots. Since it was still April when we took these photos, it wasn’t very green outside in Minnesota yet. (As you can see in the sunset shots.) That’s why we chose to go to Como Zoo and Conservatory in Saint Paul as the second location for their session.

The Como Zoo has a ton of different gardens that are green and warm year-round! I had never done a photo session here before so it was very fun to try, and I loved the variety of plants and flowers to really change up the scene for each photo.

This photo session was unique for me because I typically always schedule my sessions right at sunset, but since our first two locations were so unique, we actually did them mid-afternoon to get the best light indoors! But just for fun, we headed out to Coon Rapids Dam after dinner to take some photos at sunset and chased the light until it was gone!
